Remember our friend OJ Simpson? The one who didn’t kill his ex wife and her friend? Yeah him. He’s just been granted parole.

OJ Simpson has spent the past 9 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping. ‘The Juice,’ a former American football running back, broadcaster and actor, was the centre of global attention when his ex wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were both murdered and he was charged for their wrongful deaths.

The trial, widely known as ‘The Trial Of The Century’ was notable for dividing the racial lines in America, if not the world.

After his acquital, my man Orenthal (real name by the way) then decided to lead a group of men to the Palace Station hotel-casino and took sports memorabilia at gunpoint. OJ denied guns were used though.

Eventually, on December 5, 2008, Simpson was sentenced to a total of thirty-three years in prison, with the possibility of parole after 9 years…. Ouch!

Anyway, 9 years later (today) he faced the Nevada Parole Board and begged to be released early. In what felt like a re enactment of the trial of the century, I sat and watched as his parole hearing beamed live and one after the other, the board member granted him early release, based on good behaviour in prison and his prior record of criminal convictions.

I do hope my man has learnt his lessons now.
